Addition expands ability to scale and brings neurovascular and electrophysiology market expertise
ROSEVILLE, Minn., Jan. 6, 2022 – VitalPath, a manufacturer of custom, highly complex catheter solutions, announced today that it has acquired Modern Catheter Technologies (ModernCath), a manufacturer of advanced catheter delivery systems based in Maplewood, Minn. This growth builds on VitalPath’s acquisition of VitalDyne in March 2021.
The acquisition will expand VitalPath’s ability to scale, increasing its total footprint to more than 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space, including 35,000 square feet of ISO 7 and 8 cleanroom space. VitalPath customers will also gain access to additional expertise in key markets such as electrophysiology and neurovascular, particularly in microcatheters and peripheral vascular applications.
“ModernCath is a strategic addition to expand and scale the VitalPath platform,” said VitalPath CEO Randall Sword. “ModernCath’s strength in the neurovascular and electrophysiology markets complements VitalPath’s expertise in the structural heart and peripheral markets. And their exceptional extrusion capabilities will be a valuable addition to our strength in laser processing technologies and finished device manufacturing.”
“We are excited to join VitalPath and leverage complementary technologies to offer our customers a more complete catheter manufacturing solution,” said ModernCath president Doua Vang. “It was very important for us to partner with someone who not only understood our vision, but shared our willingness to take on complex catheter projects for the most demanding applications.”
ModernCath’s expertise in microcatheters strengthens VitalPath’s service to fast-moving customers in the neurovascular, coronary and peripheral market segments. These include nine of the top ten Tier I OEMs and dozens of innovative early-stage medical device companies.
